These are the albums which I like the most. Since I have not listened to a lot of albums( let's say, max 400 for me), it would be pretentious to make a list of my 100 favorite albums, so I keep this list short.

This is a list comprised of my personal favorite albums. I tried to keep a limitation of two albums per band, but some musicians such will appear on the list at a higher frequency due to having multiple bands. Small reviews for each album will be added eventually. Please note that this list is still under heavy construction, and is no where near done. Many things are probably missing, and some albums may not remain for too long. My goal is to get 100 albums, but if that becomes too difficult I will chop the list down to 50 (or maybe 75). If you can think of any album you think I may be forgetting (read: an album you think I find to be one of my favorites, not your's), don't hesitate to remind me of it's existence.

Yep, one of those lists. Everyone has one, so I thought I'd make a list of metal albums I really recommend.

This is not an absolute "best-of" list, for a few reasons:
1) I stick to one album per band, unless there's been a drastic style shift (like Katatonia's).
2) I try to cover all major subgenres fairly, so I have something for everyone. It counterbalances the tendency to list all the cool bands in a style I'm into right now (like drone or epic doom).

I believe "best" is something of a misnomer, since people's opinions of quality are biased to their tastes. So a more proper title would be "Best Releases that I Enjoyed from 2001-2010".
