My Journey Into Death Metal - 15 Albums That Brought Me Into The Genre

I've been a fan of metal music for a little over five years now. For most of that, I've just not liked death metal. It simply failed to hook me, and I simply preferred black, doom, etc…

Over time, though, I heard a few albums that slowly made me grow more interested in the genre, and ultimately led to me growing a curiosity, then an appreciation, for the style. Anyways, this is the sequence of albums that got me hooked on exploring death metal, and what I would play for anyone I was trying to introduce the style to.

1. Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side
2. Hypocrisy - Abducted
3. Opeth - Still Life
4. Novembers Doom - The Pale Haunt Departure
5. Septicflesh - Communion

KB's Favorite Albums Of All Time (Only Metal)

Here is my provisional favorite-metal-albums-of-all-time-list! Enjoy!
The first 10 albums are in pretty accurate order. However, after that, it becomes harder and harder to separate the albums clearly. Thus, you can say that I enjoy album x on the list as much as the others in the interval of (x-5) to (x+5). For example album 37 would be as much enjoyed as 32, 33, 34, ..., 42, or something like that.

1. Cult Of Luna - Somewhere Along The Highway
2. Disillusion - Back To Times Of Splendor
3. Grand Alchemist - Intervening Coma-Celebration
4. Opeth - Blackwater Park
5. Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory

My Fav Viking/Folk/Pagan/Epic Albums!

Top albums in no particular order. The first decade of the new millenium turned out to be a good one for Viking music! I realize Nightwish might be a controversial entry, but their (pre-Annette) music can invoke the inner Norseman in me!

1. Amon Amarth - With Oden On Our Side
2. Ensiferum - Victory Songs
3. Falkenbach - Tiurida
4. Finntroll - Jaktens Tid
5. Finntroll - Ur Jordens Djup
