Top Albums Of 2012 (ongoing)

Hope to manage to keep this one update... the 2011 one i still around to be completed.
This is a list about personal taste... I listen to several Metal genres, but not all strike me with the same intensity. This list reflects that intensity, not the intrinsic musical quality of the albums.

1.Xandria - Neverworld's End
2.Eluveitie - Helvetios
3.Alcest - Les Voyages De L'âme
4.Barren Earth - The Devil's Resolve
5.Amberian Dawn - Circus Black

Songs For Your Metal Party

This is my personal selection of albums (with specific songs) that you'd like to play in your next metal party.
The songs are sorted so the more powerful and energetic songs are equally spread all along the list, except the last songs, which are softer than average.

I'm currently working in this list (well... in my spare time), so it's not the final one.

1.Unexpect - Fables Of The Sleepless Empire
2.Korpiklaani - Karkelo
3.Solefald - Norrøn Livskunst
4.Mastodon - Crack The Skye
5.Kvelertak - Blodtørst

The Albums That Made Me Who I Am Today - Part 1: The Early Years

OK, let's get this straight right now: THIS IS NOT A LIST OF MY FAVOURITE ALBUMS. Neither is it a 'Best Of' list in any shape, manner or form. And it is also not a list of albums I consider to be important in Metal history in general (though many of them assuredly would be considered so).

What this list is:
I started thinking about why I listen to Metal, and why I listen to certain bands and not others. And how my tastes have changed enormously in the approx 15 years I've been, as one might say, a Metalhead. I thought it would be interesting to look over my collection and pick out those albums I consider to be landmarks in my listening career and write a little bit about why each is significant to me.

1.Anathema - Judgement
2.Black Sabbath - Paranoid
3.Cradle Of Filth - Midian
4.Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger
5.Def Leppard - Hysteria

After A Year Of Metal: The Albums With The Biggest Impact

It's nearly been a year since I've started listening to metal. I've listened to many albums since then, but it took me some time to get used to some genres, band ideologies and listening to full albums. This is a list of albums that had a big impact on the way I perceive metal. It is NOT a favorite album list as I don't still frequently listen to some of the listed albums anymore. Ordered by impact level.

1.Agalloch - Ashes Against The Grain
2.Suffocation - Pierced From Within
3.Immortal - At The Heart Of Winter
4.Agalloch - The Mantle
5.Edge Of Sanity - Crimson

Vocal Affairs

Sove very good releases have been created without the inclusion of the vocalist that a band is famous for having; the one everyone thinks of when the group is mentioned. Sometimes these bands surprise us with a well-known replacement, a fill-in, or a remaining band member. These releases are more than worthy of listening to, liking, loving, or even (in some cases) proclaiming superiority over the regular line-up. This was put together quick, and will be tweaked and fine-tuned as time goes on.

1.The Crown - Crowned In Terror
2.Bloodbath - Nightmares Made Flesh
3.Judas Priest - Jugulator
4.Pyramaze - Immortal
5.Black Sabbath - Born Again

Tampa Death Metal

OLD SCHOOL: the best death metal bands from Tampa, Florida (not in any particular order). I don't really know why Tampa happened to be the birthplace of death metal, maybe it's because of all the retiring old people being so close to death (I kid, I kid).

Anyway if you want to get associated with old school death metal, start at the top and work your way down.
