Crushing (Not For The Faint Of Heart)

A little list of albums that have been kicking my ass as of late. Some albums on this list may appear to be "odd" choices, but "crushing" in this context does not necessarily mean heavy. It could be referring to the emotional intensity of the release or the literal heavy pounding sound. Hope you enjoy.

Note (1): More to be added as I see fit.
Note (2): These albums are in no specific order, I have just been adding them as I see fit.

1.Esoteric - The Pernicious Enigma
2.Ahab - The Divinity Of Oceans
3.Agalloch - The Mantle
4.Warning - Watching From A Distance
5.Ulcerate - The Destroyers Of All

Top Doom Metal Records

3.Ataraxie - L'Être Et La Nausée
4.Esoteric - The Maniacal Vale

InnerDoom

The wide spectrum of sounds expressed through the sub-genre of Doom Metal often gets overshadowed by the somehow inaccessible slowness that is in its nature and so DM doesn't get the recognition it deserves for being, in my opinion, one of the most flexible subgenres of Metal ... Because of that, Doom Metal has remained among my favorite genres of music since the time I was introduced to it through My Dying Bride's "Turn Loose the Swans".

1.Esoteric - The Maniacal Vale
2.Saturnus - Martyre
3.Lacrimas Profundere - Memorandum
4.My Dying Bride - Turn Loose The Swans
5.Process Of Guilt - Erosion

Brimbly-Brambly Bucka-Bucka Woozle-Wuzzle It's A Doom List.

This is a list of the doom albums I have listened to.

The list starts with a handful of what I'd call my favorite doom albums. The first few of those count among my favorite of all time, with Paranoid, Watching From A Distance, and Черно at present holding a perfect 10. This list does have a cutoff point, stretching from those 10s through some high 9s and all the way down to middling 6s. If I rated it below a 6, it does not appear on this list, and that's because I disliked the album.

Given how much music I listen to and how many lists I have going concurrently, I don't update this as I go; I let albums accumulate for a while and then do periodic overhauls, so the list won't change for months at a time.

Last updated October 17, 2021.

1.Black Sabbath - Paranoid
2.Warning - Watching From A Distance
3.Kypck - Черно
4.Woods Of Ypres - Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light
5.Heaven And Hell - The Devil You Know

The Painters Of Metal

Album art is a crucial element to what makes a great album become monumental to the music fan. It gives us a vision and a feeling through visual sensations that are linked in the mind to the sounds that embody those ideas. A great album is intertwined into those concrete images and the two aspects make them whole. The following is a list of albums by some of the most influential, well known illustrators in the Arts Community. These artists are key figures in relation to how famous their art has become either by the success of the bands they worked for or the popularity of their own work.

1.Electric Wizard - Electric Wizard
2.Darkthrone - F.O.A.D.
3.Cradle Of Filth - Midian
4.Converge - Jane Doe
5.Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle-Earth

Konrad's Top 25 Albums Of 2009

My top Metal picks for 2009. It was in interesting year and a good transition into what I feel will be a decade of progression as never seen before.

If you don't agree with my list, make your own. I obviously don't have time to listen to 5,000 albums every year. Magazines that do, such as Decibel or Terrorizer, usually have trouble conjuring up 40 quality albums to throw on their yearly lists, so cut me some slack...I am not working with a team of people, and I don't get paid. I'm sure there are plenty of great albums that I have yet to discover or that I have just not been able to listen to...but all of those that are listed have been personally approved by me. The numbers are not as important to me. I would greatly appreciate some "Thumbs ups", as I have put a lot of my personal time into this list, and also into reviewing these great albums.

1.Wodensthrone - Loss
2.Mastodon - Crack The Skye
3.Anaal Nathrakh - In The Constellation Of The Black Widow
4.Krallice - Dimensional Bleedthrough
5.Napalm Death - Time Waits For No Slave
