Welcome to the sphere my friends. I'm talking about albums made by Guitar Heroes, with extreme creativity and skills. As you know, this is not the biggest musical genre because there are many amazing guitar players, but not that much amazing Guitar Heroes albums which deserves a true attention in their wholeness. For the little story of my life, I used to begin listening to metal with Yngwie, Joe and Steve Vai in 2005 or something like that. And when I bought my first electric guitar in 2005, I first started to try Vai's songs while you all know EVERY beginer starts playing with Nirvana or Red Hot Chili Peppers
Anyway, I hope you will enjoy my playlist. These albums are great to me, and it's always a pleasure to listen to them so many years after. I admit that GH albums are not my first preocupation today (if you take a look to my other lists, you will see), but this is the source of my passion, and each time I discover a good piece of them I bring it here, when I think about it. Take a look at the Top Album lists of recent years and you'll notice an obvious trend. In 2005 the average rating of the top 25 albums is 8.76. Jump to 2014 and the average among the top 25 has dropped to 8.26. An almost linear decrease is observable for the 10 years in between.

I was curious to see what a Top 100 for 2000-2014 would look like if I factored the votes to account for the 'rating decline'. I hope you find it interesting.

The list is pretty wage, I'll be updating it a lot and the order might vary a little depending on some things, but they're all great and awesome records no matter what. If there are some great records missing, that doesn't necessarily mean I consider them bad, maybe I just forgot about them or just haven't listened to them enough to consider them personal favourites.

Limited to metal and rock albums found on Metal Storm. Most of them (at least 90%) are anyway, so doesn't matter. The absent ones are mostly more pop and synth oriented stuff and some really obscure jazz and fusion albums.

What seems the most important albums for me in chronological order.
I wish I could carry the list year after year to see how my tastes changed and new findings.
I can help but notice that old albums immediately strike me, while in recent times most albums are good but nothing is groundbreaking. We have a tide of releases in the last decades, and standing above the other requires an impossible lot of talent.
Or is it my listen habbits that changed ? I felts I listened to the old albums albums for a lifetime while I'm only surface checking the new ones. Too little time, too little time to truly live...
Also the mixing technology, the sound is too flat nowadays and lack impact and personnality
