Best to Worst Metal Albums of 1984

Why 1984? Because that's the year I was born. I'm not saying that my birthyear makes anything else significant, but I figured I would take an interest in every album that's as old as I am. Yup, it's that lame. Here they are from best to worst in my opinion.

By the way, only the albums I've listened to go on this list, which explains why I don't have Judas Priest's Defender of the Faith or any other big album on here yet. (I'll get to them, I promise!) This is definitely a work in progress as I listen to more metal.

1. Metallica - Ride the Lightning
2. Metal Church - Metal Church
3. Autograph - Sign In Please
4. Iron Maiden - Powerslave
5. Trouble - Psalm 9

My Stratovarius Best To Worst

I guess I'm just liking the idea of making lists on the internet. Metal gives me a nice thing to focus on. Now, for my favorite metal band!!

I'm sure you'll notice that I have not included Polaris or Elysium on the list and that is intentional. I don't hate the albums, I just find them hard to compare to the rest of Stratovarius' work, like apples to oranges. Timo Tolkki might not have been the greatest of guys, but I think he was pretty essential to the Stratovarius sound (at least for me). The new Stratovarius just sounds like a different band to me. Maybe in the future I'll include the newer stuff, but not now.

1. Stratovarius - Episode
2. Stratovarius - Infinite
3. Stratovarius - Stratovarius
4. Stratovarius - Visions
5. Stratovarius - Destiny

My Metallica Power Rankings

Everybody on the internet has an opinion of Metallica. Period. Here's mine. If you have any issues with it, bring it on! I've got my reasons.

(P.S. Yes, I've listened to Lulu, but I won't include it here because, in my opinion, it's more of a Lou Reed thing. However, I have no trouble agreeing with everyone that it's probably the worst thing Metallica has participated in. It was an interesting idea that insisted on remaining esoteric, with no real way for the general audience to grab onto what was going on or why. Atmospheric, but forgettable. Well, at least you can't accuse Metallica of being sell-outs anymore, right?)

1. Metallica - Ride the Lightning
2. Metallica - Death Magnetic
3. Metallica - Metallica
4. Metallica - ...And Justice For All
5. Metallica - Kill 'Em All
