Top 20 albums of 2014

Great year, especially when it comes to melodic stuff. So glad that At the Gates and Empyrium delivered something solid. Even happier that Vanhelga really has become a "Lifelover 2", only darker. Although I am dissapointed that Deathstars didn't release a #1 album.

1. Harakiri For The Sky - Aokigahara
2. Saor - Aura
3. Mors Principium Est - Dawn Of The 5th Era
4. Anaal Nathrakh - Desideratum
5. Vanhelga - Längtan

Top 20 albums of 2013

Absolutely amazing year! The fact that a Dream Theater fanboy such as myself can't put their self titled release on the list either shows what a great year it was or how dissapointed I was with that album.

1. Ayreon - The Theory Of Everything
2. Thyrfing - De Ödeslösa
3. Ghost - Infestissumam
4. An Autumn For Crippled Children - Try Not To Destroy Everything You Love
5. Kalmah - Seventh Swamphony

My Maiden hangover - songs I'd gladely see Iron Maiden skip during their live shows

What's a Maiden hangover? You know a regular hangover, right? It's really bad, your head hurts and you feel ill. You know you still love beer, but you don't want it for a while. That's how I've felt about some Iron Maiden songs for a couple of years now. I've seen Maiden six times since 2005, and that's not even during the same tours. Still I feel like they play the same couple of songs over and over again. I can understand why, being a huge band with some monumental metal classics. But a little variety, please! I went to a show last night and thought during it "it's enough now". One of the best things about seeing the same bands over and over again, is to witness them play different songs. One that I haven't already experienced live. But this never happens with Maiden, we get like 1-2 songs they haven't played in a while. And its not just witnessing the same songs over and over again, it's the fucking same coreography during them too!

1. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
2. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
3. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
4. Iron Maiden - Killers
5. Iron Maiden - Killers

Top 20 albums of 2012

A really good year, full of surprises. Never been much of a Sabaton fan and especially not a fan of Lamb of God. Both bands released kick ass albums. Avatar keep on getting better and better. Rush released their best album in 25 years. Kreator gave me one of the best thrash albums I've ever heard.

1. Kreator - Phantom Antichrist
2. Wintersun - Time I
3. An Autumn For Crippled Children - Only The Ocean Knows
4. Anaal Nathrakh - Vanitas
5. Darkend - Grand Guignol - Book I

Top 20 albums of 2011

Looking at this list I realise that 2011 was a better metal year than I remembered it to be. Interesting year with a lot of surprises. The Shining album is in my opinion awesome, one of their best. Power Quest released their best album since "Wings of Forever". Amon Amarth keep on surprising me with solid releases (and I thought I was over them years ago). Opeth's "Heritage" was way better than my expectations. Amebix gave me some of the best tracks of '11. Overall, a really good year.

1. Shining - VII - Född Förlorare
2. Lifelover - Sjukdom
3. Aquilus - Griseus
4. An Autumn For Crippled Children - Everything
5. Power Quest - Blood Alliance

Top 20 albums of 1992

Weird year. The top 3 are without a doubt some of the best albums ever made. The rest is mostly good, some great. But I have to say there's a lot of overrated albums on the list.

1. Dream Theater - Images And Words
2. W.A.S.P. - The Crimson Idol
3. Devil Doll - Sacrilegium
4. Megadeth - Countdown To Extinction
5. Burzum - Burzum

3. Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
4. Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
