This is really a comeback album. First it was Dream theatre and now COB. Happy 2019.

Last great record of COB was TL&S EP with a killer title track and very nice "Knuckleduster". I see their choice for the last track as symbolic.
"Platitudes and Barren Words" is a time machine to the glorious days of the MDM when we had a handful of great albums each year. I miss them so much.

Well, still not understanding the despisal so many people have for the last albums, I consider this one another excellent release

Sad to see such a great album with under an 8 rating. Too many CoB haters who just automatically give poor ratings to their newer albums.

The score of this album is almost 8 which means very good (and definitely not crap), and this is exactly what this is: a very good album. It cannot have the same score as Follow The Reaper, if that is what you expect, because it is not as good as FtR. Simple as that, nothing to do with tr00 or kvlt or other stereotypical bollocks.

7.9 is very high for late era CoB

Bah! I couldn't understand people rejecting the albums since Are You Dead Yet? The power and energy are still present on their music, and maybe the style changed in some form, but I don't see a single descent of quality on their music, neither if I compare them with the (I say it again) overvalued 3 first ones.

Was thinking the same but I was revisiting my favourite CoB albums after Laiho's death and those were already a bit too much for me now, so I'm not sure I'll be able to stomach this.

Well nothing near their rightfully acclaimed first albums, but it has some decent ideas and iw wayyyy above the garbage they released after Hate Crew Deathroll. BTW, while not exceptional, I found Halo of Blood to be surprisingly decent.
