And to a certain degree, so is India. Only there the narrative is a typical developing country one of this being the only way to emancipate it from global third parties' interest.

US "patriots" voting right against their own social and economic interests is probably the most notable global example of this.

And that people who identify as such should be aware of this fact and how easy their self-identification can be instrumented against them.

That's not what I said though. I said that motivating patriotism in a people is a fascist move. And that is just a fact.

Still, I find it very presumptuous to assume that every patriot will sooner or later turn into a fascist. And this is coming from someone who can't identify with any of these terms.

And that's the thing right? What more reason would there be for national pride than to erase history? And that is a classic fascist move. People are always easier to control when they make their country part of their personality.
