So you mean you can't be proud of being German because of German history and what the Nazis did 80 years ago? Sorry, but that's ridiculous. No one living in Germany today is responsible for what the nazis did back then.
and you can feel however you want, as well. I just wanted to emphasize that there is a distinction between liking and wanting to improve your country (patriotism) and wanting to BE your country, as you put it (nationalism)
Also, you can be whatever the hell you want, dude. I don't have to like it. And if you tell me you're proud of your nationality, I will very likely not hang out with you. But if that's what makes you happy, I'm happy for you.
