W.A.S.P. - Cancel US Tour, Dates To Be Rescheduled Later

The following message was posted on W.A.S.P.'s official website:

"Veteran shock rockers W.A.S.P. have been forced to cancel their upcoming U.S. tour (which included Alabama Thunderpussy on many of the dates) due to its North American label losing its distribution. The tour will be rescheduled at a later undisclosed date. The group - longled by singer/guitarist Blackie Lawless - issued their fourteenth studio album overall last April,'Dominator' (also produced byLawless). The album sees Lawless tackling such tough topics as America's foreign policies, and is a follow-up to 2004's 'The Neon God Part II: The Demise.'

W.A.S.P. originally came up as part of the same Sunset Strip metal scene that also birthed such renowned names as Motley Crue, Ratt, andQuiet Riot, and scored such '80s metal classics as 1984's 'W.A.S.P.'and 1985's 'The Last Command,' as well as the x-rated anthem, "Animal (F**k Like A Beast)." The group's following remains large and rabid to this day, which makes the cancellation of the U.S. tour a major let down to metalheads coast to coast".

W.A.S.P. - Blackie Lawless Dies... NOT

Recent rumour about Blackie Lawless dying in a car accident has proven to be nothing more than someone's sick joke. Apparently, the rumour originates from the fake news website, where you can enter your own text and transform it into a news article.

Blackie Lawless has issued the following statement on the official W.A.S.P. website:
"If I died, I wish someone would have had the common decency to let me know, besides, a car crash is way too mundane, I would have opted for something more spectacular" - Blackie Lawless.

W.A.S.P. - Drummer Stet Howland Departs

Drummer Stet Howland has announced his departure from W.A.S.P. on the band's official forum:

"I appreciate the kind words and I am sorry if some of you are sad about my departure. Out of respect to the band and the upcoming tour, I didn't send out a press release about this, as I didn't want to cause possible worry to you good people.
I just got in from a long weekend and my ass is kicked, so I'll keep this short and to the point.
Without going into detail that would most likely get turned into something negative, let me give a Reader's Digest version of what's up.
In mid-January, Blackie and I had a phone conversation that resulted in our parting. It wasn't shitty, ugly, or disrespectful in any way. It was two old and dear friends being honest with each other. After 16 years as friends and bandmates, one thing you learn is how to be honest with each other.
So the bottom line is, I will not be part of the upcoming tour, and I'm not sure who the drummer will be as its really none of my business. If it's the guy that they were going to use before I came back, he is excellent. I don't know him but I have heard his work on Darrell's solo stuff and I think he's great. Keep in mind Im just guessing from the other side of the country. lol
I will be posting more details about this and my upcoming plans on my site www.stethowland.com this week."

The entire statement can be read at this location.

Temple Of Brutality - W.A.S.P. Drummer Joins

The new band featuring former MEGADETH/current F5 bassist David Ellefson, guitarist Peter Scheithauer (BELLADONNA, KILLING MACHINE) and vocalist Todd Barnes (13-A) has changed its name to TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY from the previously announced ENEMY OF GOD. The group, who have acquired the services of drummer Stet Howland (W.A.S.P.) following the departure of Jon Dette (ex-SLAYER, TESTAMENT), are said to follow a very aggressive musical direction in the vein of SLAYER and PANTERA. The band are currently seeking a label deal for their debut album, tentatively due before the end of the year.

W.A.S.P. New Album!

"The Neon God: Part One - The Rise" is scheduled for release on April 6 through Sanctuary/Metal-Is Records.

Described as "a conceptual rock opera that explores the tragedy and consequences of one boy's search for acceptance and purpose in his existence," "The Neon God: Part One - The Rise" reportedly "delves into such deeply emotional (and personal) inquiries, such as where does one fit into the great cosmic enigma? How does love fit into the equation? Should I use my gifts and talents for good or for evil?" according to a press release. "These are the primary thoughts all people have regarding their existence at one time or another. When addressed by a youth and coupled with an extreme dose of fear, a lethal combination develops."

"Part One - The Rise" tells the story of an abused and orphaned boy who finds that he has the ability to read and manipulate people. By utilizing his gifts, he is able to build a following whose devotion and allegiance create a loyalty so intense that he is poised to become a dark Messiah for the 21st Century.

"The Neon God: Part One - The Rise" track listing:

01. Overture
02. Why Am I Here
03. Wishing Well
04. Sister Sadie (And the Black Habits)
05. (Why Am) I Nothing
06. Underature
07. Asylum #9
08. Red Room of the Rising Sun
09. What I'll Never Find
10. Someone To Love Me
11. X.T.C. Riders
12. Me and the Devil
13. Running Man
14. The Raging Storm

"The Neon God: Part One - The Rise" features the lineup of Blackie Lawless (vocals), Frankie Banali (drums), Mike Dud (bass), and Darrell Roberts (guitar).

Part 2 of "The Neon God" story will be released by Sanctuary/Metal-Is Records over the summer and will complete the story.
