Usurpress, the Swedish death metal act, just lost their singer and frontman Stefan Pettersson. There is speculation that the band might split up now. Stefan Pettersson, who was also the vocalist in Sportlov, lost his battle with cancer. R.I.P.




The band posted this message on Facebook: "So, you think you knew loss? You didn't. It is with tremendous pain in our hearts that we have to face the fact that our singer, and band leader, Stefan Pettersson fell into eternal sleep this morning. His battle with cancer was brave, and the amount of suffering he endured to complete our last album Interregnum will be legendary even in hell. We love him, and so should you. Remember him, discover his music. / Usurpress (Påhl Sundström, Erik Sundström, Stefan Hildman, Calle Lönnberg, Matte Modin, Lawrence Mackrory, Daniel Ekeroth)."

Their label Agonia Records also released this statement: "R.I.P. Stefan Pettersson (Usurpress). Stefan, it's been a honour to work with you. Interregnum has been the most unique release we have ever done and we will ever do. It's a already a legend."
