Amorphis with Delain? Ehhhhh....... the last tour with Dark Tranquillity and Moonspell was way more appropriate.

Have you seen Amorphis live before? I went to that show with Moonspell, Dark Tranquillity, and Omnium Gatherum, I saw and met all four of the bands, and do you want to know what I thought of each of their performances? They were all great except for Amorphis; they suck. I like their vocalist and I do think that he is advanced for the band, but the rest of his band-members did not impress me, and their songs never appealed to me. Especially their Trump shirts and Amorphis underwear that they were selling were ugly and ridiculous. Delain have never impressed me, either. I remember when their debut album came out, and I didn't think highly of it. Everything else they released after was rubbish. So, to me, the two bands go hand in hand--a boring show that I won't be attending.

Saw them twice, once in Baltimore with what was supposed to be Swallow The Sun, but their van broke down on the way. Then again just recently with that tour. I agree that all 3 of those other bands were much better live. Amorphis seems to follow the philosophy of making the live performance sound as close to recording as possible and that generally comes at the expensive of the live experience. Both times i've seen them they've sounded amazing though! I do prefer the bands that move around more and interact with the crowd though.

I totally respect your perspective. What I am trying to highlight is when you put both of those bands together live, their won't be much of a difference between the two. Sometimes I wish to understand why is Amorphis so relevant to many metalheads; I think that they are such an average band if not below, with the exception of their vocalist. Then, again, music can mean different things to different people.

Your last sentence is spot on. I think Amorphis is a superb band. Their last two albums are spectacular with Queen of Time being an instant classic. For me, they seem to find just the right mix of death growls and clean vocals. They are an incredibly melodic band, and their hooks are second to none. I haven't seen them live, but I like a band that can capture their studio sound in their live setting. Then again, I also like bands that deviate from their studio sound, so I guess I just like live music. Period.
