Anthrax, one of the "Big Four of Thrash", certainly deserves their own thread here on Metalstorm forums (as they have in the past). Definetly a great band worth discussing. If you are new to the band, I recommend you listen to "Among the Living" sometime.

Amazing band, really. I absolutely loved their cover version of a song called 'Antisocial' originally played by the french band Trust.

I like them, although i never understood why everyone liked them more with Joey Belladona instead of John Bush.

the material was stronger with Belladonna, even if the vocals were better with Bush.

Cant say enough about Anthrax and especially Charlie Benante he is my personal favorite Drummer.I own Among The Living and Spreading The Disease, they definitley defined their own style mixing a somewhat punk with thrash.I happened to be wearing my t-shirt today:

I like the band in general although I mostly listened to the older albums, Among the living and Spreading The Disease being the favourites. I also tried to listen to the later albums but didn't quite like them. It was really great seeing them live with Belladonna last summer mostly playing their older songs.

Does anyone feel like Anthrax has more of a hardcore vibe to it with Bush ? Saw them live with Priest last year. They still kick ass.

i personally prefer the line up for we've come for you all. and i have heard the 80's stuff. i just like the style of bush and caggiano over the others. it's especially great on music of mass destruction......as is the little piece on Rob Caggiano on the dvd.

I own most of their cd's and I think anything they did with Bush is complete shit. Even though Anthrax is one of the biggest sell out bands ever, I still love their stuff in the 80's. My favorite cd is their first one, Fistful of Metal, with Neil Turbin on vocals. His singing is ridiculous.

Anthrax was very important for the Thrash Metal evolution, was one of the greatest bands of Thrash. When they made "Attack of the Killer B's" ..... what was that??? and finally I was very disappointed with "Sound of the White Noise", my first "CD format" of Anthrax, since then I forgot Anthrax, but I still loving their first stuff and "Fistful of Metal" is my fav.

Now, I love Anthrax as much as the next person. And I won't even begin to argue about the awesomeness of Among the Living and Spreading the Disease. But for me, there is just something about Stomp 442 that really helps get the blood flowing. Songs like Random Acts of Senseless Violence and American Pompeii. I think it's their most underrated album and it's definitely the best of the John Bush albums.

nothing special bout this band for me... and check out the tread in the metal battle forum comparing Anthrax, Megadeath, Slayer and Metallica... and Anthrax has 0 votes while Slayer and Metallica have more than 20...
if you like them so much, go vote for them they may be deserve one or two votes for managing to stay around for that long, which I really respect them for...

Regarding that poll, I said it on that thread and will say it again here... I prefer Anthrax to either Megadeth or Metallica, I just prefer Slayer to Anthrax.

Yeah... I think usually people have some band that they prefer to Antrax, but there are obviously enough people that really like them... Otherwise they wouldn't be still around...

I was just on their site recently and separate from their supporting slot on Rob Zombie's tour, they are going to do some select headling shows. Now, normally you wouldn't think too much about something like that, but Anthrax has something special in store for these shows. They are going to be performing Among the Living in its entirety. It seems like this sort of thing has become pretty popular nowadays, but in this case, the album was great enough to warrant these special shows.

Among the Living is a masterpiece. Belladonna's vocals are at it's best, the same with the other members. A somewhat refreshing thrash band compared with the other so-called "big four". Fav tracks by them: Caught in a mosh, and Indians. And I also enjoy some of their "sellout" material.

Anthrax is another one of my favorite thrash bands. I don't see why people don't like this band, Their material shreds, and they have Scott Ian (One of the sickest rythm guitarist to date). But other than that, my favorite album by them is "State of Euphoria" Charlie Benante's drum work really shines on that album.

"State of Euphoria" is a great album. The last of their best three, with "Among the Living" being my favorite, and "Spreading the Disease" in second.

And I think Frank Bello is underrated - a lot of the glory goes to Charlie and Scott - but Frank's low end rumblings are fantastic. Listen to the chorus section of "Caught in a Mosh" - particularly the bass that plays between the lyrics "Talking to you" ... "is like clapping with one hand."

Great work.

Yeah you're right. Frank Bello doesn't get the credit he deserves. In my opinion he's one of the greatest bass players ever.
