times Devin has taken the difficult route just to avoid making easy, low-effort, mainstream-appealing music. Certainly some of his iterations are more commercial in sound, but that's hardly a bad thing just in itself, and he is
the Devin Townsend Project was because he felt it was becoming too commercial, too safe, and therefore too artistically restricted, and he endured a lot of criticism to move on without DTP. Same thing for Strapping. Numerous
That's a very rudimentary and ultimately inaccurate reduction of somebody with a deep and varied catalogue. There are certainly some albums he's done that are more commercial and less interesting, but the whole reason he retired

Could be just a rumor though
Doesn't sound like Arditi. My guess is rumour.
I got more out of staring at the old weird stain on my desk than listening to this. It could be an old fossilized booger, it could be a squashed bug, it could be ink, but I'll never know because I stopped listening to that 25 minutes in. Thank god for the stain that made me stay that long.
This is getting so much shit that I just have to hear it and see if it's really as bad as you all are saying

My first full-length encounter with Burzum, and it's not bad. Of course, I had no expectations and I like most ambient stuff. If you can't take that your cult metal band takes a different approach that's your problem. I guess the MS staff needs to be a bit more open minded...
Never tried Burzum so I figured I'd start with the lowest rated album for shits and giggles. Honestly, this doesn't sound nearly as bad some people make it out to be. It's a little boring and simplistic, but it's not garbage. It is, however, rather monotonous; I'll give you that.
Despite the fact that I love Ambient & Dark Ambient genre, this album as an ambient is pure shit. Personally I think, after Hliðskjálf nothing creative has been released. It'll be better if he will give up on music at all & will find some other hobby.
I love ambient and folklore, mainly psybient but that's not the poin here, this album, the fractions I heard are somewhat mediocre but poorly produced, some of the reverberation is killing me, good to ok composition for the most part, it has it's heights for example The Reckoning of Man is very impressive. Production like I said however could've been better for certain sounds, especially the spoken words.
But boy seeing this discussion is pain in the butt, too many people pointlessly circle jerking here, it's a waste of time folks. But if this is quality entertainment for you then perhaps you have all the right to do so I guess.
