the Devin Townsend Project was because he felt it was becoming too commercial, too safe, and therefore too artistically restricted, and he endured a lot of criticism to move on without DTP. Same thing for Strapping. Numerous
That's a very rudimentary and ultimately inaccurate reduction of somebody with a deep and varied catalogue. There are certainly some albums he's done that are more commercial and less interesting, but the whole reason he retired

I just listening this because of SB ... I don't think epic heavy metal belongs here, maybe it must be removed, like I suggested remove epic prefix from HM... cant see epic HM bands anymore, maybe this one, seems refixed again .
I don't hear epic HM, IMO its prog rock, more King Crimson meets Rainbow in demo studio. Prog rock it is, not metal at all , not HM as we know, good album I like it, but bad quality , still ...

Tell me, how this is BAD quality and NOT heavy metal at all?
Legend is pure heavy metal with epic touches. But remember we're dealing with Bad English here who also claims Kill 'em All isn't thrash metal.
Btw totally no prog rock in this American Legend.

Cool album. Not the most heavy, not the most epic, but it's an example for other bands to follow, and they sure did, and took it further and made it more refined. An interesting listen nevertheless and for sure an important album for development of heavy metal.
