Venom: one of the first thrash metal bands, if not the first. Their music: loved and adored, or hated and despised. Where do I stand? I stand right in the middle. Yes, I sit on top of the fence - not really a fan, nor a hater.

I know! Great band, Great album, very innovative, very influential. Even though the production was sort of poor, Venom were very ahead of their time.

Venom is probably one of the most influential metal bands ever. Black metal is maybe not so melodic and well played, but its simply legendary. Norwegian black metal wouldnt exist, without Venom.

Fucking logic, how does it work?

Although most probably he just changed his mind, it has been a year after the review after all.

The only great thing about this album is that it coined the term black metal. A boring chore that is a must listen only because it forms part of the history of extreme metal and you won't sound intelligent taking about extreme metal if you haven't listened to this mediocre effort. Weak forgettable songs and nothing special. Swallow the bitter pill and torture yourself just because this is an important piece in the history of extreme metal.

You are not metal enough until you visit Kenya. The cradle of mankind, where man learnt first to work with stones and first enjoyed the sounds produced by banging stones which later influenced metal in all its sounds and genres.

Great album, great songs, the cover art always caught my attention, even though it was simple I thought it was very cool, I think it's one of my favorites in metal in general. For me, the best tracks are Black Metal, To Hell and Back, Buried Alive, Raise The Dead, Sacrifice, Countess Bathory, Don't Burn The Witch, and it's also an album that I can listen to almost all the way through without getting bored.
