The first album I listened to by Blackmore's Night, and a damn good one at that. It's certainly not advisable to listen to this if you don't really like acoustic, heartfelt, fantasy-laden imagery and songs based on medieval folklore, but with Ritchie Blackmore and his wife comes subtlety, astounding melody and excellently tuned rockers in the name of 'The Storm' and the epic title track.

Ritchie' guitar parts in some tracks are completely "insane", mainly the solo in "Fires At Midnight" which is quite heavy. In my opinion this album is one of the band's most rock inclinated, musically.

I think this album is underrated. Maybe because of the expectations when people are listening to former Rainbow and Deep Purple guitar god.
The song "the Storm" is one of the best songs ever composed by Ritchie Blackmore, im my opinion.
