"We will be the first band ever who will make the Prog Metallers dance!". It was the words that Johan Hallgren told me when I had the luck to meet him the other day in Paris to talk about the new album of Pain Of Salvation, "Scarsick". Of course it was not so serious but it is for me a good way to show you that it will be a really disturbing album for the fans of the already cult band of Progressive Metal. Different, special but always extremely deep and beautiful, "Scarsick" will maybe be a "hate or love" album for some of you, but I can tell you that with time, you'll learn to love it. One more time with the band, we're in front of a really good album.

An extraordinary diverse and interesting album.
I don't think any other progressive metal album has received as much hate as this one, and maybe that's what Daniel Gildenlöw wanted? Still it's their greatest commercial success (6th on the Swedish album list, most sold copies of any PoS album). How come? Lets find out.

Kick Ass, Die Young

Less is More
Stay Pure
Stay Poor

Music was my life, music brought me to life and music is how I will be remembered long after I leave this life. When I die there will be a final waltz in my head that only I can hear.

It has taken me 3 years, but now I can finally appreciate this album. This is by no means an accessible disc, and sure there are some weaker moments, but when it clicks - it won't let go.

Talk about a grower. This one took even longer than FWX. Definitely up there with PE Part One, potentially even better.

High Fist Prog
Quite an underrated album - simplistic (for their standards), yet brilliantly so.

This album has aged so well. I have to confess I hated it when it came out but listening to it years later on a better sound system it is such an underrated cord.

The bassline in Spitfall is just something else.

It was a grower for me as well, I didn't dislike it at first but wasn't that much into it. I don't remember when it kicked in, but when it did, I found it entertaining.
