Easily Purple's best album since 'Perfect strangers'. The sound on here generally resembles that of the band's 70's period when they would welcome Blues and Hard Rock influences onto almost every song. 'House of pain', 'Razzle dazzle', 'I got your number' to name but a few are some of the best songs Deep Purple have written in a decade or so, and although the record is without Blackmore or Lord's talent, Steve Morse and new member Don Airey more than make up for the loss. Gillan's vocals are still weak in comparison to his earlier years but he certainly does try and has a great range in style.
