Swans are once again, for potentially their swan song, a band of excess.

With this potentially being Gira’s last work, I hope it delivers

This is really great. But about as metal as Tom Waits. Maybe he should be added to this site as well?

Swans have evolved quite a bit over the years y'know.

So did Queen? Their first couple of Records were substantially heavier than anything Led Zeppelin ever did for example, yet the got deleted from the site years ago. Just pointing it out, I think it’s weird 😊

Fuck yeah he should. Everything is better with more Tom Waits.

Whew, this is a long one, I've still yet to listen to the last 2 songs, but I'm actually surprised by how much I'm enjoying this. I actually like how subdued and somewhat eerie this is. This is crafting an atmosphere that seems to demand specific listening conditions to be enjoyed, in my opinion.

Luckily, I happen to be listening on a cool night with the fringe of storm clouds breezing past in a very quiet part of the town, at most you can hear rustling of trees and some hushed, distant baying of hounds, while mellowed out. I think it's working out well, can't imagine listening this on a hot day, it just doesn't work.

Now, really curious what the 43 minute of a behemoth is going to unravel when I get back to it, but I suspect already that I will be rating this high, hmmm, maybe even a 9!

Like this better than Leaving Meaning but they’re both some of my least favorite works from them. However, Michael Gira has always made whatever he feels like without any concern of how it’s received from others.

It’s always strange how I want their music to get past the slow boring parts so there’s something to enjoy yet at the same time I want it to progress slower and longer so I can enjoy it even more. It’s like it’s way too long and I know it but the longer and more repetitive it is the better it gets. I liked this but I can only see myself coming back to it if the mood is perfect.

Feels like the swansong (no pun intended) of a drained and dying but accepting man. It would be a fitting final album for a band like swans, especially with Michael Gira being almost 70 years old at this point.

The answer is in the name of the site.
