Wormhole are driving innovation in perhaps one of the least innovative metal subgenres, with their self-proclaimed ‘tech slam’ style. As they continue to push the boundaries of brutal death, however, they may need to start weighing the merits of some of the elements tethering them to this niche.

Wow, they are really leaning in to that proggy/melo sound, I like it. I'm loving that there are multiple brutal death bands on the rise incorporating these experimental sounds. I can think of a few older bands that were more exploratory but it wasn't as common as it seems to be becoming.

I like this one a lot more than their last and I'm looking forward to what Afterbirth will be doing with their next as well.

There's some seriously talented musicians in the brutal death metal scene these days, and here is no exception. Too often though I find the technicality and complexity in the songwriting just gets too much for me, and ends up lacking memorable groovy moments, the growls in this genre usually seem over the top in harshness aswel, which again, is the case I find here.

Overall though, I find this to be one of the better one's I've heard this year, it's not badly constructed, despite the vocals not appealing to me. It's got a certain groove and technicality which I can actually follow fairly comfortably, and there's not as much deathcore involved as I expected there to be, which is a good thing for me I guess.

I like the cover art by Adam Burke way more than the actual music.

Yes, the cover art is fantastic, the music doesn't really do it much justice. Tbh, I find most tech/brutal death cover-arts to be pretty impressive, it's just a shame they're genres I find difficult to get into.

This is probably the most I've enjoyed brutal death, although in fairness it for the most part feels closer to tech-death. I really wish they didn't have the gargling vocals, really drags it down for me
