For the longest time, Hexvessel was that psychedelic folk band that metalheads liked because of the line-up connections it had to metal bands. Now, that connection runs deeper than just line-ups.

The only previous Hexvessel album I've heard is When We Are Death and it's a long time since then, but I don't remember there being the blackened touches there - if those are new, they're an interesting element to include

I've not heard any of their previous releases before but I quite like this. The blackened touches are a great feature which adds a certain dark eerie soundscape, and the clean vocals have a haunting creepiness about them that fits very well with the music. I'm definitely hearing more psychedelic rock than neofolk here though.

So this is the most memorable song from their previous album that I've heard, just to give a sense of how different this new one is: When I Am Dead

It's very different indeed. This track sounds a lot lighter and more 60s psychedelia influenced and reminds me of The Doors, where as this latest release is much harder to distinguish, it's quite unique, but if anything I would say they now sound more like a blackened Vanilla Fudge.

Cool album and sounds "old" like its from 70's or something. My fav song was A Cabin in Montana. Such a atmospheric and black song. Would like to spin this more than once, its that good

A metal journalist for Sweden's biggest evening newspaper has this as her best album of the year. She usually have great taste but I strongly disagree with her on this. I've tried listening to this album twice now but I don't hear the magic. There's nothing here that catches my interest whatsoever. I'm not saying it's a bad album, it's just not for me.
