Even if I write the review of "Themata" this year, the first album of the Australian Alternative combo Karnivool was released in 2005 in the land of kangaroos. But as you probably know it's not always really easy for a band to cross the oceans and even if it seems that Karnivool is extremely famous and trendy in Australia, they're totally unknown in Europe. Let's see if their first album will have the luck to encounter the same success in the old continent?

Karnivool isnt really well known here. They were mentioned on the youth radio station Triple J a few times, but they didnt really get a following till there second album, and even then, it wasnt all that big.

I forgot how awesome this album was. So many great moments, especially on the disc's first half.

Preparing to see them on Friday, given a few songs off this some further listens. Obviously Sound Awake is a big progression from this, but particularly at the beginning of the album there's some really neat songs - Fear From The Sky in particular is really good. Roquefort is an interesting one too, between the weird nu metal grooves in the verses and the powerful chorus, some 'swankier' parts of it can get irritating but a fun one overall. A solid enough base that Sound Awake built greatly upon.

Lucky guy. Enjoy the show! Karnivool's probably my favourite act these days. Is it still the Themata Decade Tour?

I think so yes; I was slightly worried at first cos they posted a setlist from somewhere where apparently they'd done the entire album plus one other song, which would've been fine but a bit disappointing. But looking at the other tour setlists, it's a good balance of great songs from each of the 3 albums, so should hopefully be great, because I know they're good live.
