Fortíð translates in English to the word "past", and Narkissos certainly shows glimpses of that in its songwriting, but this Icelandic black metal trio have proven they are far more than a band who simply dwell there but rather embrace it whilst they move forward stronger than ever.

This album is great, there's so many excellent folkish melodies and some great guitar and synth work.

A thoroughly solid album. I think I liked World Serpent a little more but they are quite close in terms on quality. While Narkissos isn't amazing it doesn't feel it has much down time and there is almost nothing I dislike about it. This guy always knows how to write great riffs and make distinct atmospheres.

I think that is more of a legacy categorization than anything because the band used to play much more straight forward black metal even though those other attributes were always present. There are still plenty of black metal elements here like at the start of tracks 1, 3, and 6 for example, but yes black metal doesn't entirely describe the album and it has a lot of moments that wouldn't be considered trve black metal
