After reviewing Stortregn’s previous album Impermanence, I had certain hopes concerning where the band would go next. Finitude doesn’t really follow in that direction, but regardless it is an exhilarating slab of technical extreme metal.

There isn't another Ghosts Of The Past on this album from first impressions, but it's still an impressive album - it's pretty relentless in its hyperactive, proggy, melodic tech-death

I really don't like the whispered vocals on this one. I feel like they are overused. Still a good album though.

There's some supurb technical wizardry going on here, it's a great release. There's always a structured rhythm and flow to it, and the lead guitar work is stunning, there's even some Latin influences in there, which is cool, it also helps the fact it has a great production. I usually can't get into anything overly technical or complex but this is so well crafted and excellently performed by an exceptionally talented group of musicians.

Having said all that, I don't think it's one I can repeatedly spin, it's more like an album I can listen to every so often when I'm in the right mood for it, even this can make one's head spin after some time.

I’ve had this problem with a lot of newer releases that have a heavy focus on technicality and complex song structures. They are usually very impressive albums, but can be a bit too much to go for repeat listens. Fleshvessel, The Zenith Passage, DHG, Liturgy, and VoidCeremony albums from this year to name a few.

This hits a lot of the notes I love about Vektor and Mors Principium Est, while still being its own style. Awesome music!!

This album hit me hard! I really didn't expect this to be as amazing as it appears to be. Really good songwriting, and these guys seems to have found their own little mixture of technical death / thrash and melodic black metal, and it doesn't seems forced in any way. Really nice surprise!
