It's been a while since we last heard from Tomb Mold. Seems like the passing time transformed them closer to prog death metal act.

Probably just a time difference issue. I'm expecting to see it later.

Have you seen how many vinyl editions they've made available!!!?? I pity the poor Tomb Mold completists out there

I'm not particularly familiar with this band - saw the name and them being described as OSDM and thought it would be a waste of my time, but I gave this album a go and it's got a lot of dreamy melodic solos and proggy inclinations that I'm enjoying quite a lot. I went back to Radu's review of their previous one and saw nothing like that mentioned - is this a big change for them or have they always sounded like this?

I haven't listened to this new one yet, but for me they're a band who've been developing with each release. I liked Manor of Infinite Forms and I liked Planetary Clairvoyance even more, so I'm excited to hear what they do here.

But yes, there was some proggy inclinations heard in the interludes on PC.

I was kinda expecting more tbh, it's not really impressing me that much. There's a lot of technicality and brutality, and the production is tight as hell, and it has some pretty groovy moments, but I'm struggling to get into it as a whole. The last track is clearly the highlight for me, with the rest of the album ranging from average to decent.

Definitely one of the highlights of the year so far. Wasn't expecting this to be so proggy, but I'm not complaining.

I quite like it. It's my first contact with this band and I know we will become good friends.

There are moments it sound like "Into the grave" and vocals are reminding me Ross Dolan on "Dawn of Possession". Good old days

Expectations were high, but I think they were exceeded!
First impressions: this is way less cavernous-sounding than their previous albums, but it still has this unique otherworldly Tomb Mold vibe, although with much cleaner production. The clean hazy passages are not unexpected after what we heard on ‘Planetary Clairvoyance’, but this album is even more melodic and proggy. The band just keeps getting better and better with every release!

Slightly cleaner production than the previous releases, but I'm honestly fine with it, since it's a lot easier to make out each individual instrument. Great album overall.

Although I love death metal in general and listen to a lot of bands, I just can not get into Tomb Mold. Sure, the album has its moments, especially when you hear the influences of Dream Unending, but overall the songs don´t do anything with me. I don´t find them overally complex, or exciting or pummeling. They just start and end. I have a similar problem with Dying Fetus. I struggle to find the connecting factor why others seem to love those bands and I simply don´t...

Good riffs here!! Not just cavernous death metal but they explore another subgenres and how to add to their sound.

Loved the swampy, old-school Autopsy esque vibes of the previous two but this new one leaves me cold. They've gone too proggy-tech for my liking, the production is horrible and there is no heaviness in the mix at all.

Oh well. I always have their other albums to enjoy.

After repeated listens, I've really come to prefer this new style they're going for. Easily my favorite album by them now.

One of these bands that lots of people praise, but on closer inspection the music isn't that spectacular, just relatively solid and listenable.

It is a big shift for them, both in terms of production and songwriting. Knowing your taste, you'd be bored by the previous ones, which were still solid OSDM, cavernous and brutal, but not proggy at all. This one is also OSDM-loving, but it loves proggy OSDM, like Cynic, later Death, and Atheist. I like the album quite a bit, the last couple of tracks are fantastic, and the music is generally very good, in my opinion. I think Vella has brought in some of his Dream Unending leads and experimentation here. I've never been a big fan of the vocals, though.

This one really needed time to open up for me. I heard it once or twice when it first came out, but it didn't really catch on. I could hear the ambition and the great musicianship, but as I said it didn't really got a hold on me, so at first I ranked it at a 7.
But anyhow, I revisited a couple of albums from 2023 In which I felt that way about, and I'm so glad I did that. Because holy fucking shit, this album rips.

It's groovy, it's technical, it's dirty and got some nice progressive touches here and there. The album sometimes reminds me a bit of the atmospheric tech death sound bands like Nocturnus so beautifully brought to the table in the early 90's.

This is a really fun and great listen, that I would highly recommend. But give it a couple of spins, if you are not hooked on first listen. It's really worth the while

I'll have to revisit this again before the year is over, I've tried a few times with this release and although the musicianship and production is top quality there's still something that doesn't quite click with me.

Some decent death metal here. The last track is definitely the highlight for me too.
