Maybe when I'm a little more into doom I'll be able to appreciate this more. Or if I were off my tits on weed  But for me this type of doom (stoner doom you'd call it, I guess) just drags on a bit much. Nice music to have on in the background of a hot-boxing room though

I find it weird that so many people go apeshit over this empty album. I really don't like it. That guitar sound is utterly horrible, it's nothing but wasteful fuzz and more distorted fuzz, which people seem to misconstrue as heavy for some reason (to me it's very weak and thin sounding - no depth or oomph), along with overly reverbed vocals. Very unpleasant to my ears, and as the guy above me said, way too long and overdrawn for what's here. Definitely up there for me as one of the all time overraters. I'll stick with the superbly balanced, and genuinely stonery, Witchcult Today, thanks.

The only thing we can discuss is how wrong Joe is... and then he will just say that we are overrating the album based on some personal feelings towards the album.
To me the guitar tone and the distorded vocals are fan-fucking-tastic.

Yeah this album rules, and features some of the band's best songs. The title track, 'Funeralopolis' and Lovecraftian 'Weird Tales' are all superbly heavy.

From what I've listened to, I feel the same way, though I haven't listened to enough of either to give it an accurate rating yet. The stuff I've heard from Witchcult Today was just more interesting to me than Dopethrone.

It is mostly empty, just riff after riff and no real structure, the songs do not go anywhere. There are some nice riffs regardless.

Meh, you are sexy weird so you are excused. I personally can't see what the aimless comment is all about... Songs like Weird Tales just have a jam feeling but I wouldn't call it aimless.
