Remember those "original Trve Kvlt surf music" vids on YouTube of surf music versions of black metal? What if a band did that for an entire record, but with original music?

Blackened surf rock - huh?

My first thought was that this is probably just some untalented joke band, but looking at the lineup (half the crew from Dead To A Dying World plus Cleric's drummer), they probably mean it seriously. The first song is up and it gives grounds for optimism that this will be fun.

Take away the distortion, and black metal has some similarities with surf rock.

Shame they don't really take advantage of it. As far as fusion genres go, it's too basic and straightforward.

I see this band having a lot of potential. I mean, this is a style which sounds extremely odd on paper but they actually make it work here, the songwriting definitely has room for improvement as some tracks seem a tad too short and rushed, maybe this release would have been better suited as an EP perhaps?

i'm a huge fan of trve kvlt svrf mvsic but this didn't feel quite right. too disjoint and erratic, doesnt have the fun edge of classic bm tracks turned surf rock.
