Misplaced Childhood was released in 1985 as Marillion's 3rd studio album following their debut Script For A Jester's Tear and Fugazi. Fugazi is considered by many to be their strongest, more diverse release with songs rather than fragments but Misplaced Childhood carries a certain strength and originality I am really attracted to.

The best album of Fish's era and most probably the best in the discography...

This is a wonderful album. Rarely have the worlds of prog and mainstream rock clashed so perfectly together, as on this album. Timeless stuff.

What a nice album.

Was it the first time you listened to it? About time! My favourite Marillion album *so much feels*

Along with Afraid Of Sunlight.

It was indeed. I often take a while to get around to these things

And yep, the feels are in abundance with this one.

Heheh. Well there's pretty much no forms of music where I don't like at least some stuff from it. Prog rock is not something I've explored an awful lot though but generally speaking I've liked most of what I have heard. I just don't get round to it very often.

Of all the Fish albums this is the one I like least, even though it's still superior to anything after Fish left.

I dunno if I'd class it as their best, but what isn't in question, is that it is an amazing album. And I'd certainly regard it as a classic for sure.

Like I've said, "usually rated". It's one of the best sure, but my favourite remains Marbles (the 2 disc special edition)
