My favorite Bolt Thrower album, along with "In Battle There Is No Law".
It's probably my favourite album by them too. It was also the first album by them I heard.

Do you like "In Battle There Is No Law", even if the style is quite different from the Bolt Thrower most people know of?
And damn this thread is fucked up.

Yep, it's awesome! I don't think it sounds that much different to their "signature style", other than it's more raw, and has a real primal brutality to it. I guess the main way in which it differs from most of their other stuff, is the lack of atmospherics, it's just straight for the jugular stuff.
You can say that again... I think it must be because of the clocks going back at 2am over here.

Imo, the main difference is it's so much faster.

Overall it is much faster, although it does have a very raw sound too. But I think that's probably more due to the production...

It is also raw, in a cheap way. It was their first album and they had no money. I'd be curius to know how much the album cost to record. Very little, I guess.

I forgot I had this album - oh it takes me back to when I was young and idealistic. Great album.

I'll take this over anything Entombed has done

Weaker than '...For Victory' and 'Those Once Loyal', but still quality stuff. I think perhaps a time trimming would have been welcome, some songs had quite boring riffs.

I really like how the theme of the fourth crusade and the capture of Constantinople is brought out in the lyricism in this album. Bolt Thrower obviously opted for a heavier and slower sound here, but with the vocal talent of Karl Willets and the outstanding guitar work these themes of enigmatic warfare are enhanced to a great imagination and precision.
