Bolt Thrower's approach to death metal is pretty unmistakable. They sound like an oncoming division of tanks? an unyielding and unstoppable juggernaut that will crush everything in their path without remorse.

1994's '? For Victory' finds them in peak form - they have taken their by now familiar formula and refined it to near perfection. While some bands that rely on the same approach again and again often find themselves stagnating and ultimately becoming stale and irrelevant, Bolt Thrower somehow managed to constantly tweak and improve upon their approach with each album, leading up to what I think is their best effort in '?For Victory.'

Their guitar tone is undoubtedly one of the best in Death metal.

One of the most engaging and intense war-related albums I've ever heard. Every aspect of the sound, the themes and the lyrical imagery has been thought out carefully and it all makes for quite a visceral and precisely performed listening experience. Certainly Bolt Thrower's defining album.

This is clearly their best album for me (Warmaster following). Such a powerful and at the same time melodic album (although it is not really melodic death!). I can enjoy each and every song here. Highlights: Silent demise, Lest we forget, Remembrance, and of course the title track.

In everyone's opinion who has the slightest clue about death metal, this is an immense album.

I'm finding it difficult to give this a rating less than 10, maybe the outros to Rememberance and Armageddon Bound could be a little bit shorter, but that's all I can think of.

The album is magnificent, the vocals are both brutal and clear which is perfect for me, and the lyrics and theme is great, not being about Blood and Gore is a breath of fresh air for Death Metal.

The riffs are both catchy and heavy, the guitar tone is spot on for me, and the bass and drumming are at a good solid pace, but staying heavy and not too fast moving, or complex and and over the t. It's simple Death Metal but a very effective sound quality.

it's an album I can listen to again and again and never get tired of it, abd the title song is my favourite Bolt Thrower song.

I agree with all your points! This album is truly one of the best death metal albums I've ever heard.
Since there are so many great Bolt Thrower songs, I find it hard to choose a favorite song. Also, the songs all blend nicely together, so sometimes when I idly listen to one of their albums, it's hard to tell when a song ends or starts. Do you know what I mean?
But For Victory title track might well be the best Bolt Thrower song - it's flawless and epic

I understand what you mean about all the songs blending in, it's great because the whole album flows perfectly well, and you listen through the whole album before you know it.

This and the IVth Crusade are probably my favourite BT albums. Awesome band.

Whenever I hear a contemporary metal album with BT influences (Frozen Soul, Graceless, Asphyx, etc) I'm always hooked in.

I've finally bought this album! It's absolutely epic!
The riffs throughout are masterfully intense and badass

However, I find "Forever Fallen" and "Tank" are weaker. I also find the vocals on "Armageddon Bound" weaker, although the guitar-work is phenomenal!

The rest is though absolutely flawless! The first two songs ("Remembrance" and "When Glory Beckons") after the majestic instrumental intro ("War") are terrifically brutal with crushing riffs!

My favorites here are tracks 4,5,6, and 7
The lyrics, riffs, and solos on "For Victory", "Graven Image", "Lest We Forget", and "Silent Demise" make these four tracks metal masterpieces!
