Bloobath is the best death metal band. Ever.

1. this album has a bad production. it may sound "clean" but doesnt sound angry or violent.
2. the riffing is not as good as in previous albums.
3. most of the songs are beiing constructed under the same formula: verses and choruses and then comes the VERY GOOD melody. it can sound boring.
after all those i've said, this is the weakest of the 3 studio albums of Bloodbath. but it is very good though. it isnt perfect though so thats why i am bitching...

Musically, this is pretty boring, but Åkerfeldt's vocals have never sounded better, and sometimes you just need a chunky riff to headbang to. Therefore, there is a time and place for it.

A little underwhelming considering I listened to one of Bloodbath's EPs prior to this one, but it still does a fucking great job of making earth-shattering death metal. The last few songs are the highlights for me, whereas the opening songs take a while to get going.

"At The Behest Of Their Death" is such an awesome song. Pretty cool album, I'm finally paying these guys a bit more of attention.

This is a really solid slab of death metal here! Mikael's growls sound especially brutal here when compared to Opeth. "Treasonous" is probably my favorite track on here, I adore the riffs in that song.

Maybe it's just me, but for some reason I get a similar vibe on "Mock The Cross" as I do on Morbid Angel's "World of Shit". Both songs sound completely different from each other, but for some reason I can't help but feel as if though Mock the Cross was specifically inspired by that song.
Anyway, this album is not quite as good as the other two, but I still love it. I don't mind the modern sound with the face-blastingly clean production as others do, but I'm glad to hear from them in interviews that the next album they do will go back to the old-school death metal sound.
