I like Bathory's old albums (until BFD incl) but their Thrash Metal albums are utter crap.
I bought this album when it came out years ago and it ended in the garbage bin.
About "Reqiem": vocals and drums sound like shit.
Absolutely awful album.

All the songs in octagon looks like the same and the guitars are weird.
This one has, at least, different beats.

Octagon wins with persistant intensity, discharging and partially humorous lyrical content, and with general goodness. Requiem is a bit too safe and... daily?

Hey, the lyrics in Octagon are the worst in bathory discography. Clearly, Quorthon can't describle the mind of a psychopath. Both albums has similar sound, but more produced and audible in Requiem. And while both albums deal with contemporany/social problems, Requiem is more "Direct to the point"
