Top 20 albums of 1986: 8

We all knew Marcel as a doom guy, and that's certainly the first association I have with him, but on this very site you will find a 10.0 review of this here classic thrash album (or at least the 20th anniversary reissue) from none other than Marcel himself. Personally, I've never been the biggest fan of Flotz, but Doomsday For The Deceiver is without a doubt one of the best thrash albums to come out of the 1980s, thanks to its sky-piercing vocals and riffs as monstrous as the cover art. We know which band Jason Newsted really belonged in... but that's another discussion.

The point here is that Flotsam And Jetsam were no hangers-on, but were paving the way for future thrash (and other styles) in ways the Big Four couldn't have imagined, and I paid much closer attention to this album thanks to the affection shown it by Marcel.

It´s a pity that this band hasnt made more such great efforts like this. When you like Thrash, with a touch of old-school Maiden, you´ll love this

Every time I come back to this album, I feel some happiness that I find really hard to explain to someone unrelated to Metal, it feels like energy flowing from the album through my ears directly to my brain cells. I like that, few albums make me feel so overwhelmed.

I'm no doctor, but I can say with 94% certainty that you are suffering from narcolepsy There is no relation with this album (...nor with "Disgrace") and sleepiness

100% correct, this album makes me sick and sleepy everytime I listen to it..., luckily there are many albums out there are very much more better than this.

Another borefest and chore that you have to endure to tick off from the list of what are considered top thrash albums. Only low energy people will like this, inspid, lifeless and can act as the perfect background noise at a newborns nursery. Ignore any thrash list that features this in the top 500.

Not as good as No Place For Disgrace

I agree, but this is really marginal, they are pretty much at par IMO.

Superior to No Place. The Elton John cover alone on No Place pulls it down to way below Doomsday. And in addition most of the songs on Doomsday are way more memorable.

I disagree. Doomsday has Hammerhead and the title track--probably the best the band has ever put out.
Then there are Metalshock and She took an axe--great songs. Other than that, not that memorable for me--though certainly not bad at all.

No Place though has several memorable songs.
Sure, the EJ cover is awful, and tracks no. 3 (NE terror) and 9 (PAAB) dont give me much either.
But as for the rest, pretty memorable in my ears.

no, Maasai Mara was reasonable at least, he even wrote a few reviews.
Dr Strawberry was a troll IMO.

Listening to this album it reminds of the times when I heard it the first time. I was thinking who even writes songs like this, who is able to? Starting with Hammerhead, I had never heard anything quite like it before, just pure killer musicianship and Eric already in the beginning was one of best voices in thrash. Just a pure ass kicking spree right from the beginning which in my view set a new standard to strive for to speed and thrash releases that came after it. Another masterpiece of a song is, of course, the title track with its 9 minutes of length; Metallica tried to do a song like this and it was nowhere as good or fast. So overall, it's a ass kicking fiesta for those who prefer their material fast, and shoutout to Doctor Strawberry and Maasai Mara for their sarcastic comments! It's always good to see some jokes on the threads.

To once again to prove that I am not a poser, I used to have Doomsday for Deceiver patch on my kutte, which ultimate met it's maker in a bonfire. If I would remake the kutte I would have the patch definitely there again. But who needs a kutte when the gigs are not happening in the flu world order?

I don't know about Maasai Mara's agenda, Strawberry was most probably just trying piss Marcel off with his comment. Bring them both back imo
