I always wondered what king crimson sounded like in the 70's, and I am not disappointed one bit. There are quite a few weak songs here (the longer songs where Belew sings don't hold any highlights at all), but are strongly neutralized by the intensity of the instrumental songs. Therefore, musicianship here is a good bonus, apart from the soft vocals. A good album, even if this band doesn't get that much recognition any more...

King Crimson is one of the most beloved progressive rock bands, so your last remark does not make much sense to me.

What i meant was, that the band is not as highly regarded in music nowadays as they were in the 60's and 70's. I'd like to think people have at least heard of them though...

King Crimson has always had enough appreciation; you should check some progheads forums and see how beloved they are.

The second album that i heard from them, after ITCOTCK, and it was awesome. I love Belew's vocals. After listening to practically all of their albums I'm awarded this is not among their best, not among their worst. Not at the level of the 70's records but It's somehow, special to me....
Anyway, their live performances are OUTSTANDING!
