The driving force behind keeping a band going for thirty years is commendable, let alone when Ironbound is both album fifteen and arguably the most solid album the band has put to their name.

That's right, Overkill make their return with a whole new sense of conviction and power. Ironbound oozes with a thrash pedigree and confidently outclasses much of the genre's other contributors, both new and old. You can not take Overkill for granted with this release, as the band finally appear to have a burning fire underneath them with the result being an album to genuinely get excited about.

2010 was a magical year to Overkill as they launched one of the greatest albums of their legendary career. After years of underground industrial metal albums of variable quality, the band set a standard for what thrash metal should be nowadays.

Ironbound is an amazing piece of heavy, thrash metal, bringing something new to the industry at the time where there aren't very many good albums released, even by great bands of this style. With this sick album the band brought up the best of themselves with amazing performances by every single one of the musicians. Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth gives a top class performance shifting from high pitched singing to a lower range with a great and unique voice. Even though I personally never considered him a particularly outstanding singer, I have to admit that with the performance on this album he deserves to be among the best thrash metal vocalists of the past 20 years. Both guitar players perform insane riffs and solos and both D.D. Verni and Ron Lipnicki give the album the consistency, power and intensity needed to light up Overkill's career and give them a place among the names on the metal walk of fame.

I've always wanted to travel to the eighties and touch the peak of thrash metal, when giants in the underground world like Overkill of New Jersey shied away from the camera and only thought about producing true thrash. Although Overkill always tried to reconstruct that world for people like me, bands like them suffer from people criminally under-rating skilled thrash bands. The only thing I can say is that, after the release of each album, everyone's jaw always dropped in admiration for them.

Just in case you've been living in a cave or in complete denial for the past several weeks, here's a quick reminder there's a new Overkill album in stores. And it's something to be excited about since it's one of band's best efforts in many years. Get it while it's hot.

It's your own point of view. Anyone holds different opinion from you is considered a troll ?
You're very J.o.o.l ! Chracter almost 99% alike, twins ?

I dont consider a troll someone that has a different opinion, but I cant really tell if you're trolling or being serious on more than half the posts you're making.

You're clearly a typical self-made god, you can deny what you've done, who cares anyway...
How would you know I was not serious ?
You're a human lie-tester, psychologist or considering yourself a god ?
I'm seriously telling you I used to like it but not now, I don't think my preference would bother anybody.

I have been listening to year of decay for almost 30 years...still that good.

Impressive that you've been listening to it for so long since it is only almost 25 years old
And that for quite an average album which comes nowhere near the quality of Feel the Fire and Taking Over which I both have been listening to ever since they were released.

I mentioned "almost" 30 years. I didn't know that accuracy is so important to the human race.

Five years off is not 'almost'. Especially not when it constitutes 20% of 25 years.

Try flying Amsterdam from Singapore and being off course by 20%. So, yes, accuracy is extremely important for and also to the human race.

It's QFT that there're a lot of internet bullies around... but discovered 3 childish internet bullies in a day should be considered a great discovery.

I guess you guys would let me off and intend to keep on laughing at me and will keep on calling me a troll and idiot if I don't comply with what you had said....ok, this is a great album, I have changed my score from 4 to 9, satisfied ?

Says the guy who personally attacks everyone that disagrees with him or insults people simply because he doesn't like their lists. You might want to look back through your own comments and reflect on why people treat you the way they do.

I guess this is not Facebook where "Like" is the only option.
I must confess I am no Mr. Nice Guy but I don't think my negative expression to some lists should be regarded as "attacks & insults".
After all I don't think I'm so inflential, so take it easy.

By the same token don't expect people to keep quiet when you make outlandish comments about established genres and the like. Reacting to that with personal comments doesn't paint you in a favourable light.

I don't think my comments are outlandish at all...music itself is perceptive, it's not easy to define especially when an artist try to project it in a slightly different way.

Genre itself is only a general guide, not a doctrine for you to follow 100% exactly. You basically is a purist and follwer, that's why we have disagreements all the time. Don't think everything will always remains the same ! The sky has not fallen doest mean that it will not fall down forever.

With all due respect, I don't think anyone cares about your score, or mine, or whoever. Its there to display how we personally feel about the Album. If you feel its a 4, then don't change it, even less, let other opinions make you change it. You are entitled to your own opinion and dont let anyone take it away from your.

However, bear in mind that the Board is here to promote discussions and that comments will always have some sort of backlash, specially if you generate some harsh arguments, people will reply and some may not be that pleasant.

I'm not saying it is, you can think what you like about genres, but it doesn't give you the right to belittle the people that don't agree with you. If you can't discuss without being condescending then don't be surprised when people react to you negatively.

I totally agree but a lot of people aren't open to discussion at all. It's case of "my way or high way".

I see the backlash all the time from some specific posters.

Personally I love a good debate/discussion.

I have never seen to sentences contradict each other as much as those did.

Few years ago I attended a musicians' workshop, there was a musician showing people his capability of transforming familiar original pop songs to a "brand new pop songs". He played us some new songs and asked if anybody could figure out where did it come from...No one. When the answers revealed everyone just shouted..."yeah, holy shit !".

I thought the same way after a few listens to Overkill last 2 & 3 album, there are too many parts sound too familaiar with their early approach. I can't point out exactly where but I knew the tempo, rhythms, melodies just familiar, they were just very skillfully transformed / copied.

Almost like in old times. IMO it was for the best that Overkill ditched those groove elements and went back to real thrash again.
