2011 has indeed been a wonderful year for progressive and djent. And this album has to be in the Top 10 up there with the great releases of the year. Being loosely acquainted with Textures' previous release Silhouettes, I did have high expectations of this work, and I wasn't proven wrong. Not at all.

The first thing you notice as you listen through the first minute of the opening track "Arms of the Sea", is the wonderfully improved production. Guitar, drums and vocals are harmoniously balanced, and the bass is very audible, instead of being muffled out by the low frequencies of the 7-string guitar. Crystal clean, it lets you observe each and every instrument's role individually and admire the musical value of each part.

The Dutch metal scene may not be the most flourishing one, but it sure brought great additions to the worldwide metalbase. One of these additions is Textures and their latest album entitled Dualism, released in the fall of 2011.

If someone mentions something about this album, instantly, the first thing that comes to my mind is the lack of mediocre songs that compose this outstanding work of art. Each song has its momentum thorough the album, which makes it even more musically balanced and gives the listener the ability to explore and enjoy a variety of elements, characterized by melodic fills here and there while maintaining a healthy dose of Meshuggized technical riffage.

As technical and progressive as Silhouettes, but this time violence and wildly evolving song structures left some place for finely crafted melodies and atmospheres.

A new Textures album, a new wonder to immerse oneself in. Simple as that.

I can't say right now if it's better than Silhouettes, but it's for sure really good indeed.

Just listened to it. I deem it very impressive. They managed the change of roster quite well and the transition in clean vocal style is pretty seamless. The album is solid throughout and keeps all of the defining traits in sound that made them one of my favourite bands.

With alot of new Elements in the guitar repertoire this sounds fresh and exiting, many of you will maybe dissagre with me on that, but it's not difficult to hear. The sound of the production also sounds different and i like it. This album has every thing that we love about textures, but with something new in every aspect. Drawing cicles and silhouettes and even Polars for that matter, has this same feel to it. Dualism... New feel.

Also the new vocalist is realy good, simmilar in many ways, but i feel he also brings something new and fresh.

I feel like its a lot more melodic and has a lot more clean vocals than before. Not necessarily a bad thing but something to get used to. Sounds great after the first few listens.

Man, what's with the low rating? This album is great, and is definitely worth more than the rating suggests.

So happy that the new vocalist has stepped up. Was really skeptical of it. Ended up really enjoying the entire album. Textures have done it again!

First Textures album I've listened to; amazing stuff. Takes a few listens to get into, but once you do, it's great. It won't be rivalling Autopsy/Vader/Disma/Warbringer/Obscura/Fleshgod for album of the year, but it's a solid addition.

Even though the new keyboardist doesn't seem to really contribute, I am totally in love with this album.

Classic!!! Was waiting for the new album and the wait was worth it. Reaching Home is fantastic. New singer Daniel de Jongh is god!! Brilliant clean vocals! His coming into the band added more vibe to an already great outfit. Favorite tracks: Singularity, Reaching Home, Sanguine Draws The Oath, Black Horses Stampede,Sketches From a Motionless Statue.
