I'm ashamed to admit that for not so long ago, Portugal wasn't really a country I noticed when it came to metal, let alone doom metal. So it's a surprise to see that the nice weather is not preventing the musicians from creating tragic landscapes. Released in June, the sophomore album by Before The Rain might be a good start for people who haven't embraced this wonderfully doomed kind of music yet.

Rating: 8 Huge disappointment for me the clean vocals were the only part that I enjoyed

Rating: 9 A bit of a disappointment based on one listen. It veers off into too calm post-metal from time to time. I miss the aggression which was still present on the debut. This one is as if floating in a tranquil sea.

Heh, since I haven't heard their debut I can't compare and I want to say that I'm digging this album quite a bit. Love the tranquil moments.
Also love the fact that is long as hell but it feels like it's just 40 minutes long or something. The songs just pass by.

This will be a fun album to review

Rating: 8 I do feel like we could have more growls on this one but I like the instrumental meandering that goes on.

I don't really feel like it needs more growls. I didn't really notice the lack of them since I liked his clean vocals, different from what I thought I was going to hear for this music.

Since I liked the growls when they came in, I kinda expected that more would come. But in the end, I really don't care because I generally like the songs.

What were you expecting? lol

It snaked its way up my list in the same fashion. It wasn't even in the top 50 and now it's top 10.

Good description of the album
Nosurper - 10.04.2012 at 09:00
All I can think of when I see this cover is The Shawshank Redemption, so that makes this kind of hard to pass up right now
Nosurper - 10.04.2012 at 09:00
  Probably totally unrealated though
Timmeh - 31.05.2012 at 06:04
Rating: 8 I only listen to the last 3 songs as they're a thousand times better than the first 3.
