I think Ashes... spoiled me and I expected better.

Technically speaking this album is good; great drums, amazing guitar work and Randy's vocals never cease to amaze. But it fails to reach me on any soulful level (like 'Ashes' did). With this release the masters of metal have fallen into the trap that so many metal bands fall into - "Let's only play and write to be bigger, better and faster then the next band. Nevermind making good music, let's write to impress!" Well, I'm not impressed. Get back to your roots boys.

Aside from some of the riffs being a tad repetitive, this album is pretty damn good. I know the band attempted to make everything sound grandiose and epic (production-wise i mean), but their songwriting never fails to impress.

Walk With Me In Hell and Redneck are just perfect. The rest of the album is pretty good too.
