As far as I know, the clean vocals will be a vast minority, if not completely non-existent. Tuomas has said death grunts will dominate.

Thanks for the answer! i'm excited to hear what BTD will sound like now... maybe Toumas have some really good ideas for an all "growling" band since Black sun aeon, RoutaSielu, dawn of solace etc is all a mix between clean singing and growls
we'll have to wait and see

No clean vocals at all? Ahw man... I always like when they mix awesome growls with some epic clean stuff.

Tuomas eliminated the need for a clean vocalist because he said he wanted to shed all BtD's ties to gothic metal.

I'd say it is their best to date. Still am fairly new to their work so maybe this statement might change.

I feel like BtD attempted to restructure but hasn't quite put everything in its proper place yet. Songs like "Pitch Black Universe" and "Perfect Storm" are enjoyable tracks... but it seems like Tuomas hasn't figured out how to bring the band to the next level after taking critical pieces out. Like a cheeseburger where you take away the cheese: instead of adding more awesomeness to fill it out, he just left it a hamburger. Put some hot sauce on that bitch!!!

I had a bad felling that after one year and with 2 new members tis disc would be an average, incomplete work. Started listening and "Pitch-Black Universe" and "Phoenix rising" left me speechless!! Two of the best tracks Before the dawn has written and some of the best for 2012 till now! The rest of the album was not so good, with "throne of ice " and "falling worlds" to keep me some interest for the album. I realized that the album had not so much atmospheric elements as the past albums had. New members are talented peοple but BtD needs also their past recipe. They have created their own sound and now they just leave it which is something dissapointing... Although "Pitch-Black Universe" and "Phoenix rising" rise the impressions of this album!
(I really enjoyed the bonus track from the demo, reminds me of Sentenced in some way!)

Average album of a average band. Nothing more, sadly. Forgettable tracks, lack of originality and identity.
But "Throne of Ice" It's a exception, this song kick some serious ass. And "Perfect Storm", as someone said before, it's enjoyable.
I don't know what are they trying to do, but they need to improve more in inspiration and maturity, seriously.

They are better without clean
I agree. This is easily their best album for the fact it's got none of the horrid gothic influence in the music. The only songs I've ever liked by them with clean vocals came off the 'Deadlight' album, 'Wrath' and 'Faithless', for the fact that they've got barely any gothic elements.
Anyway, my opinion of this album. All the songs are great, there's no point during the album I want to skip. Infact, even though it's about 40 minutes in length (without bonus content) I'm always left feeling as though it's over too soon.

This is the same music they've been making for like the past half-decade. The only thing different is the lack of clean vocals.

Maybe better to try Soundscape of Silence or Deathstar Rising, I guess... :-)
