Among the several blackgaze albums (and is this really blackgaze btw? more like depressive black) of the last years, this one is probably one of the least interesting I've heard. Not bad by any means, but sounds like a bunch of inoffensive leftovers of Amesoeurs, or Les Discrets. Overall decent but fails to captivate due to lack of personality.

Agreed, although I do think it's more blackgaze (I still hate that term by the way) than depressive black. Either way, it's not really anything special.

IMO, "Weltschmerz" and "Fatigue" alone kick the crap out of 90% of blackgaze releases this year.
Love this album, as well as the demo preceding it.

Agreed. Especially disappointing given the beautiful cover art...

I won't lie, the only reason I looked into this at all was due to the cover art.

Yep, me too. I even tried to like it because of it, but can't even bring myself to rate it "good" lol

Yup, this one probably gets my vote for the "Metalgaze" category, although there are a few releases in need of checking out (Cold Body Radiation sounds promising).
Still torn between this and Alrakis, though.

Alrakis easily for me tbh. Their take on Ambient BM with gaze/space stuff is far more interesting to me.

Alrakis really is fantastic, but the last 2 tracks tend to get too damn samey, which I can't say for Heretoir.
Had those two been done a bit better, Alrakis would have exactly 0 competition.

I'm not a fan of how the drums sound in this record. In Weltschmerz they sound specially shitty. Great riffs though, gives a more desperate vibe than your regular "blackgaze" album. I understand your problems with the last two ambient tracks from Alrakis but I see that problem the same way I see the s/t of the band Owl:
One big ass ambient track that doesn't add to much... but who cares about it if everything before just KILLS?
