Surprisingly good.
Never really given them a chance before.
Not sure if my music tastes are deteriorating, or Whitechapel are getting better. Either way, I like it.

From what I've heard, the band is improving.

If they've "from what I've heard, the band is improving" they must have done pretty well with this album. They're definitely not that original but they were pretty fuckin' good deathcore in the first place. Hopefull improved means more death metal less core . Either way I'm excited, they fucking destroyed live \m/

True, maybe not as dramatic a change as Job For A Cowboy but it's nice to see a lot of improvement with some of these critically mixed bands.
Their new drummer is an absolute juggernaut.

Just watched "Hate Creation" on YouTube, is it just me or did they get a little Nu Metal in that song? Not that it's a bad thing, it was actually kind of refreshing and I enjoyed the song, I'll have to get the album and check it out in a little more detail. I did not like The Somatic Defilement, loved This Is Exile and felt The New Era Of Corruption was kind of weak upon initial listenings and not so good a follow up to This Is Exile but I will probably give it another chance just for the hell of it since when it came out I wasn't really in a Deathcore mood anyway...

I've only listened to "Hate Creation" myself and I've gotta say that was definitely some catchy deathcore. The groove-laden riffs and technical drum patterns made it far more interesting than some of their earlier material. Hopefully the rest of the album lives up to that standard.

Except for Despised Icon.
Yea, Despised Icon is a bit closer to actual death metal than Whitechapel and their drummer was a fuckin' beast. The new guy in Whitechapel seems pretty good but not a beast like the dude from Despised Icon...

I expected this to be a unique album, after all this positive comments, but it's just another average record IMO.

Unique? I can understand expecting an improvement or change in direction based on the comments... but unique? It's a deathcore band. There's only so much room for ingenuity.

A step down from their previous release, but still above most deathcore

My God...this is the only Whitechapel album I've heard where every song is good. A few songs from A New Era of Corruption and This is Exile. But never a whole album o.o This is amazing!

Just got it today and I must say, I'm really digging it! I love their previous work too, but this is just something totally refreshing to hear!

It seems that this album went to far on the commercial side of deathcore (the only side left these days), plus Whitechapel will forever have a hard time comparing to their earlier releases, A New Era Of Corruption in particular.
