Holy shit! Definitely an album I was NOT expecting! Nice...
Same here. Feels like an age since we had III.
Actually I'm wondering what the source of this is, I can't see anything?
Their label announced it some time ago, and it was mentioned some where in their last.fm page (will search for some links).
this will be the soundtrack to the end of the world, probably my most anticipated album
Written by BoxCar Willy on 26.04.2012 at 21:32 No but -3 probably will, I have nothing against themes (I'm mean look at baroness) but they generally are super similar and boring after awhile.
Well up to this point Darkspace haven't changed drastically and all three of their albums are perfect examples of cosmic black metal done right.

I've never heard them, but I will check out tonight.
One thing is for sure though, what ever this album sounds like, (if there is) the trilogy will sound the same.

Hmmmmm no. Their three albums are pretty distintct. Just because they don't care of song names doesn't mean there's no variation.
In fact... I LOVE the fact that they give the middle finger to song titles because t gives the songs a far more serious tone which works perfectly for their space theme.
quotting Joe:
Quote: Gives the impression of pure science, no pithy overly poetic "black" names to ruin the cold state of the music =]
Sure, they aren't exactly progressive and hella varied but the three albums are have their differences.
Quoting Lucas in his review for III:
Quote: Whereas "I" was faster and denser, "II" was a lot slower and focusing much more on the ambient side of their music. On "III" (it's getting annoying, isn't it?) they picked up the pace again, but maintained the ambient, free-flowing distortion of the second album.
Yeah, I'm lazy right now to write with my own words so I just borrow the words of those I agree with.

I should have wrote that that is my guess, but then again, I haven't heard anything (apart from a song or two) from this band so they can be super varied.

I really need to start thinking before I post.
Well, they to vary through out their discography but as much variation as the one you should expect from atmospheric black metal.
Just enough variation to notice that it's not the same cd.

Not really because you said "will sound the same"... which is 100% wrong considering their 3 albums if you'd say "similar" or something in that vein I might have let you out the hook but naaaah.

Lest this thread be run completely into off-topic retardation, I'm surprisingly not anticipating this release. A full-length would be appreciated though...

Me neither... but always nice to haunt a cd if you couldn't do it the first time, specially if it was a demo. Then again, this is also re-recorded so it might sound different... Which is probably for the better because their sound on III is awesome.

I think I'm like... not really into it because it's not a continuation of what's already been done. I'm not saying it's a step back, but this release isn't going to add to the trilogy in any way. It might be nice on its own (who knows, it might even be the best EP of the year), but what I'm excited for is Darkspace IV. I suppose a brief remastered demo will suffice for the time being, but it's not like I'm going to forget the fact it feels like they haven't released a full-length in eons.

Well for someone like me who hasn't listened to them in eons... I can pretty much listen to their discography again without longing for IV.
