Although some of the melodies on this album are still a tad trite, it is nevertheless extremely impressive how much Devildriver have streamlined and improved their sound since I heard them the last time. As a matter of fact, it almost seems as if they did exactly what I advised them to do in my review of their debut album. All traces of nu-metal are gone and what remains is a fierce thrash metal hybrid that should impress even the staunchest of metal's malcontents.

No comments? Humph, surprising.

I like this album. The first five songs especially.

Pretty awesome stuff. "Hold back the day" introduced me to the band back in 2007 and I was hooked instantly.

Sounds a bit like As I Lay Dying without the clean vocals.

Every song is 4-5 minutes and they'd be better off being 3 minutes long. Good release, just a little meandering sometimes.

The middle songs are a little uninspired, but the first 5 and last 2 are fantastic.

8.9/10 for me
