This was actually one of my "gateway" albums into metal. And its really the only Crue album I like the majority of the songs off, compared to their other albums where I might like one or 2 songs but thats it. Songs like the title track, "Looks That Kill", and "Too Young To Fall In Love" are just timeless. Although I soon went on to liking far heavier stuff than Crue, I still have a lot of affection for this album. xD <3

True. But Metallica also suck big time after AJFA.
Anyway, if you ask me, pretty much all metal that is very popular sucks, for the reasons I mentioned on the Helloween thread.

This album and Dr. Feelgood (also some others I'm forgetting) are exceptions though, but overall, I agree, glam is a weak genre in general.

Dr. Feelgood had 2 great tracks. The title track and "Kickstart My Heart". Aside from those 2, there's nothing on there that interests me. "Shout At The Devil" is by far their best album IMO.

What about S.O.S?
Anyway, the album was amazing, from the ominous In the Beginning/Shout At the Devil to the haunting God Bless the Children of the Beast to one of the best on the album 10 Seconds to Love.

"Same Ol' Situation"? That one's decent yup, and is better than most of the other tracks on the album. But "Dr. Feelgood" and "Kickstart My Heart" are both really great songs, and IMO the only ones on the album that are.
I still remember the first time I heard "God Bless The Children Of The Beast", it gave me the chills. Even now, its so different to what you'd expect to find on a glam metal album. Yup, I like the album. xD

I like to seperate this genre into 2 sub categories Glam Rock(not a fan of) and Sleaze Metal/Rock(big fan of)
Sleaze Metal/Rock is similar to Glam but has a more Raw vibe and attitude. Including bands like Crue, Crashdiet, VoJ, Skid Row, Hardcore Superstar etc. (5% of the scene)
Whereas Glam Rock is very poppy, soft, bands like Poison, Warrant, Cinderrella, etc. (95% of the scene)

Actually Whitesnake are not glam rock or glam metal and are better than all the bands you mentioned; so is Cinderella.

alrite well what i have heard sounds pretty glam, but ive only heard their 2 biggest hits so I wont argue. Cinderella is definitely glam and to claim any band is better than another band is a subjective matter.
Im not trying to hate on any of these bands either i used to be a huge 80's metal/glam fan back in high school.

I was in the same boat as you for a while thinking Whitesnake was glam. The more you listen you realize they have a more bluesy Led Zeppelin sound. They are very glam looking but not glam sounding.
Glam is just glam. Sleaze, hair and whatnot all falls under the glam category.

ok well as i said ill back down from that claim since i havent listened to anything more than their hits.
and sure glam is just glam.... just like how metal is just metal right?
There IS a difference of style with the bands I stated. and while my definitions are slightly different than others, these 2 terms are starting to emerge due to the huge revival scene in Sweden; unofficially splitting the genre into 80's Glam and New Wave of Sleaze.

In terms of time and location, yes. Sound, I'm betting no. To my knowledge, 80's glam was also labeled as sleaze rock/metal.
Then again I haven't listened to VoJ or Chrashdiet yet. I'll get back to you on this.

yes i realize its all glam. im simply explaining how i seperate the good glam from the bad(my subjective view of good and bad at least) im not trying to say glam/sleeze/hair are all objectively different genres but I personally like to categorize them as different, dont see why this bothers you so much.

You didn't say anything about subjective views, just that the bands you listed are different because they "have a raw vibe or attitude." . They're not because whether it sounds raw or edgy or whatnot doesn't matter. You can organize them however you want. But it doesn't make you right or anything of the sort. It just makes you look obsessive compulsive. But yeah ill delete my posts. Arguing with you is pointless considering how stubborn you are.
Oh and Marcel, noone asked for your opinion. Unless it was sarcasm, to which case I welcome it.
