01:16 - moonflash hmm, I duno. Looked like Uncharted to me which can be quite fun. They only showed preliminary gameplay so it definately had room for improvement. But that concept could've delivered some awesome narrative.
01:06 - Fearmeister The gameplay looked boring though. Just QTE simulator 2014
01:00 - moonflash Damn, Stars Wars 1313 would've been incredible! Shame it got cancelled. [link]
1. (Music / Pop Music) a piece of music that is initially unimpressive but becomes more enjoyable after further hearings
After listening to this for half a year I cannot remember a release making such an abrupt 180 degree turn for the better like Altar Of Plagues final album Teethed Glory & Injury. I have dabbled in post-black metal before but my black metal has to be the "light" variety because music tagged with "black" is met with cynicism and hesitation. Alcest and Fen have helped me overcome some of my fears and now Altar Of Plagues can take its place along their side because of consummate use of post-metal guitar textures and arrangements, calm and tranquil yet dark and thick ambient interludes and peerless even flow on a post-metal record.
This is stunning. Damn, it sounds nothing like those "hipster twig metal" acts that are shrooming up every half a second or so. Truly distinctive and grabs your attention right from the get-go. Incredible.
I had very low expectations for this album seeing as I consider the bands previous ones to be highly overrated and terribly average. It therefore surprised me greatly when I found it to not only be good but very good in fact. The album feels way more dense and coherent than the other two which in turn made it that much more engaging and emotional. I also enjoyed the bombastic nature of some of the songs and a few of the more intense parts actually remided me of A Forest of Stars which I can't really complain about.
Listened to this yesterday in its entirety. Not sure if I've heard anything like it. Kind of sounded like a jumbled mess. No structure. At least Mammal has some direction. I suppose I need to give it a few more listens. I can say the production on this album is the best of any of their works.
The atmosphere of this album is really stunning. They did a excellent job mixing the black metal intensity with the "drony" electronic sounds, resulting in a "complex", yet coherent album. Even the unique cover (and videos) are beautiful, fitting the music in a strange and awesome way. A very strong Album of the Year candidate for me.
Has anyone already purchased it? I know it might sound stupid but I'm eager to read the lyrics and I wanted to know if there's a booklet... Though judging by some photos I saw it seems there isn't anything like that. It would be really disappointing to buy a copy and discover that I'm not allowed to understand almost any word of what I'm hearing.
Many people complain about this cover. I honestly don't understand why. Interesting, unusual concept, which perfectly fits to the content. Personally I like better this nice flexible body than another withered tree or a photo of old shack before the renovation
Flowless, full of noise, repetitive in a lacking of ideas and by far inferior to all their previous releases.
Not to tear you apart, but if anything their old albums were lacking in ideas. I love both but their previous albums are pretty run of the mill (even if they are very well put together). The noise adds depth in my opinion as well. To each his own though.
