Glad To Be Dead is the sophomore effort from Samara's Wine From Tears, following up the oddly named Through The Eyes Of A Mad. Not familiar with their fragment-titled initial offering, the 2013 vintage was my first taste of WFT.

Being a death-doom outfit from Russia, they show the influences one might expect: Saturnus, Officium Triste, etc. Also have to wonder if there was some weepy cross-pollination with another Russian death-doom act in the Solitude family, Amber Tears. The odd but enjoyable bagpipe sounding lead tone I've mentioned in Amber Tears' works also surfaces here, as in "Like A Fallen Leaf". (Insert lame joke here about wine from amber tears being a Grenache Rose?)

Good album, but the poppy clean vocals are terrible sometimes and ruin it a bit for me.

This music resembles Saturnus and Officium Triste a lot, but those bands both have great clean vocals.

^ I Agree. A friend of mine calls them the new Lacrimas Profundere.

The 7th track really does it for me. Fantastic job.

A decent album, but their debut was much better, "Since I Fell" is Saturnus quality stuff, this was a disappointment.

Have to check this out. Their debut stuff was very solid and has made an open path to something greater.

Does anyone know if the last song "Silence No More" is a cover? Just seems completely different from the rest of the tracks.

Wine From Tears feat. Elle . and to my ears, it's more Gothic than Doom!

Very good album, the songs flow nicely and great doomy atmosphere. The last track is odd though with random female vocals and doesn't really fit. In Memory... and Light At The End Of The World are possibly the best tracks on the album IMO.

I love this album and last song has some fucking cool riffs. Allergic Sun is my fav. Some vibes of this cd remind me of Saturnus

The CD takes a different turn than from their debut, but it's still is a pretty fantastic CD. I'm still super unsure about Silence No More though; what happened there? lol
