Brooklyn, New York's Tombs is another "post" labeled metal band that showcase plenty of other details in their music easily making it some of the more ambitious and impressive post metal I've heard this year.

There's nothing experimental about this at all, it's just post-black metal.

Indeed. More extreme than experimental.

Haven't heard it properly yet, but if you are implying by this that being extreme defies being experimental, I would disagree with you.

Not what I meant. I meant it's more extreme post metal than experimental post...two stupid made up genre tags anyways.

Yeah loving this. The only bad things about it are the clean vocals, which I don't like this time.
For unknown reason, this reminds me of Altars-Paramnesia.

Damn, these guys lost it. Their identity has vanished and it just sounds like dry, generic modern post-black metal that I wouldn't be able to pick out from the crowd. What happened to that dense and crushing post-metal nature and aesthetic they did so well? Fingers crossed they remember to bring the depth and atmosphere on the next one. Maybe a few more songs like Deathtripper.

Indeed.

It seems Tombs have got worse with every subsequent release. A damn shame.

Yeah Winter Hours was their peak for me (not that I've heard the stuff before that, mind), and Path of Totality was still enjoyable although a step down. This one though I don't enjoy.

I didn't think Winter Hours was that impressive, and this is somehow worse.

nope.

I was thinking of Unearthly Trance. Oopsy.

This album isn't all that great, like Joe and marcel said. I haven't finished it yet so I won't rate it but it's probably going to end up in the 6.5/7 range.

What's wrong with you people?
But seriously, it indeed is not as great as I initially though, but it is still far better than what one may think reading those comments. Moreover, Seance is one of the better songs I've heard this year.
