It seems like 2015 is trying to be the year that convinces me that post-black and black-gaze are worth my time. It's admittedly doing a pretty admirable job. However, where Au-Dessus won me over with its straight-black moments and different take on progression, Moonlover still trips over the same old formula that keeps me from wanting to come back for seconds. Same style of cascading chord progressions, same howled vocals, same blastbeats. That being said, for following the blueprint, this is probably the best of the batch. It's melodies and sense of emotion rival any Drudkh album, and it is leaps and bounds over last year's much drooled-over (not by me) Deafhaven. Ghost Bath also manage to build the album in such a way as to offer some steady ups and downs that kept me engaged.

Totally amazing album. Harrowing yet beautiful. I actually wish it was much longer which is rare of me to say.

Every single track on this album induced chills. Fucking beautiful, beautiful stuff. Bought the album midway into track 2.

Some very good bits. However lots of filler parts as well, that break the mood.

Listened to Golden Number, and I found it incredibly awesome! I tried one of their other albums, Funeral, but I found the vocals on that album really bad.. It seems that the vocals on this album is well blended into the music which suits it perfectly!

though i wouldn't say they fit "perfectly", i would agree. The vocals on the other albums are terrible. Problem with a lot of depressive bm bands is the keep trying to do the silencer, bethlehem, austere type vocals.

Funny, I just came back here thinking the same thing as I listened to it again. Too bad the rest of the album can't contend.

Album is just about "Golden Number" ?!!! no it's not fair...! the whole album is mesmerizing and beautiful.intensely emotional: from heavy tracks like "Golden Number","death And Maiden","Silver flower part 2" and "Happyhouse" to softer and instrumental tracks such "Beneath The Shade Tree and ' The Silver Flower Pt. 1".

One of the bests of all time, and so much more than Depressive BM.

Palma's La Luna was the main reason why I bought it. And they're pretty tight live as well. Who would have thought?

Musically, it's beautiful and very atmospheric. However, I'm not a fan of the vocals, it reminds me of silencer trying to sound like Deafheaven. Still a solid release.
